A Chilled Evening of Live Music at The Bell Inn, Stilton

After such a busy weekend over the last Bank Holiday, it was actually quite nice to have a

slightly quieter one for a change!

I had a really lovely evening performing live at The Bell Inn in Stilton, where I was set up in the courtyard area on Friday evening. Being able to play outside was such a bonus, especially while we still have these warmer evenings. You never quite know how much longer the weather is going to stay like this, so it was great to make the most of it!

For this particular gig, I decided to focus more on the 60s, 70s and 80s, which I felt would suit the audience really well. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout the evening, with plenty of engagement from the crowd, and it had that relaxed, chilled-out feeling that makes performing live music so enjoyable.

One thing I've always found really important when it comes to live entertainment is being flexible. You can turn up to a gig with a setlist and an idea of what you're going to play, but sometimes you need to be able to think on your feet and adapt to the audience in front of you.

Reading the room and adjusting the music accordingly can make such a difference. Whether I'm performing at a pub, private party, wedding, event or other occasion, I always think it's important that the music fits the atmosphere and the people I'm performing for.

Thankfully, it seemed to go down really well! A number of people came up to speak to me at the end of the evening, which is always lovely to hear after performing. And I even got a tip! Winner! 😂

It's those little moments of feedback and interaction that make being a live musician and entertainer so rewarding. It's not just about turning up and playing songs — it's about creating an enjoyable atmosphere and hopefully giving everyone a great evening.

So, here's to the next few months of live music, gigs, events and hopefully plenty more opportunities to get out there and do what I love. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings and meeting plenty more wonderful people along the way.
