What a Summer It’s Been!

Sorry it’s been a little while since I’ve added to the blog — it’s certainly been a busy summer!

As this very busy season starts to come to an end, I’ve been looking back at all the wonderful events I’ve had the pleasure of being part of over the last few months. From weddings and birthday parties to corporate events, anniversaries and my regular public gigs, it really has been a summer full of music, sunshine and lots of lovely memories.

I’ve had some really enjoyable performances at The Elm and Broadway Cellers, which are regular public gigs for me, and I also travelled down to Windsor to perform for an evening at the Fairmont Hotel, which was lovely.
My first wedding of the year was in May and it was such a
gorgeous way to start the wedding season.

Since then, I’ve performed at lots of beautiful weddings, providing live music for wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions and evening celebrations. I always enjoy being part of a wedding — it’s such a special day and I feel very lucky to be involved in so many of them.
There have been plenty of other memorable performances too. I performed an afternoon at The Old Bridge Hotel for their ‘Pizzas on the Terrace’ event, and I even featured on ITV News, which was very exciting! This happened on one of the hottest days of the year while I was performing at St Ives Day Centre — definitely a day to remember!

I’ve also had lots of fun performing with my duo act, Bethany Jane & Bro. We’ve played acoustic sets at weddings, birthdays and other celebrations, as well as combining the live music with DJ services for evening weddings. You can find out more about the duo at www.bethanyjaneandbro.com.

The weather has mostly been amazing this summer but when didn’t behave itself, that didn’t stop me performing outside at

The Elm in Abbots Ripton, and thankfully we had plenty of sunshine for many of the weddings that followed. One of my favourite venues has to be Island Hall in Godmanchester, where I had another lovely outdoor wedding performance.

I also had the pleasure of meeting the lovely events team from the Cambridge Building Society at the Cambridgeshire SME Business Awards, where I was a finalist. They very kindly booked me to perform at their summer party, which was a brilliant event.

Then came more weddings, a 40th birthday party, a wedding ceremony and drinks reception in Cambridge, an evening performance at Lot 25 in Willingham, and plenty more acoustic duo performances.

There were even a few days where I had two gigs — and on one particularly busy day, three! I don’t do double and triple gigs very often, but sometimes needs must! One day took me from a wedding at Slepe Hall in St Ives, to The Elm for their mini festival, and then back to St Ives for an evening at Broadway Cellers. It certainly was a busy one!
I then had an incredibly local 60th birthday where I only had to travel about 30 seconds in the car to get to which was a real bonus. That was a wonderful evening.

And then there was the August Bank Holiday weekend, when I somehow managed four gigs in three days. I started with a lovely wedding ceremony and drinks reception at Sedgebrook Hall, before travelling across to meet my duo partner at Edworth Manor for a joint 40th and 60th birthday celebration and wedding vow renewal. The next day we then performed as a duo for a beautiful pearl wedding anniversary.

So, all in all… what a summer!

It’s been full of wonderful memories, fantastic events and so many lovely people. Whether I’m performing live music at a wedding, providing entertainment for a birthday party or anniversary, performing at a corporate event, or simply entertaining people at one of my regular public gigs, I genuinely love what I do.

I’m so thrilled to be a part of people’s lives in this way. It truly is a privilege — and I’m already looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings!
